HIV/AIDS in Tampa Bay

According to the Center for Disease Control's 2005 study, Florida isis second behind New York in highest number of
reported AIDS cases.

How should these numbers affect the local church in Florida?

We believe the local church should be on the front lines in the fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic. There is no other disease that elicits the kind of stigma that AIDS does. Victims of this preventable disease are often shunned by family and friends, or are alienated or fired from their jobs as a result of making their status public. Those infected with HIV/AIDS frequently choose to suffer in silence because of their realistic fear of rejection.

As representatives of the hands and feet of Christ, it is our responsibility to care for the sick and suffering. It is our holy obligation to show the kindness, love and mercy of Jesus to thosewho need to experience it the most.
